Replacing stigma and barriers with access and compassion
Feeling lost when looking for mental health care is too common. We’re here to help.
The Mental Health Society of Greater Victoria was founded in 2018 to address the increasing demand for accessible mental health services and resources in the community.
We are an interdisciplinary team of volunteers that work collaboratively with various service providers and organizations to better support the diverse mental health needs of people in Greater Victoria, British Columbia.
What We Do
Mental Health Service Navigation
Finding mental health services can be a daunting process. The MHS is here to guide community members as they search for services that work for them. We are here for you, whether you are looking for help for the first time or switching service providers. Currently, our resource navigation service occurs over the phone. Please contact support@mhsvictoria.com to access these services. Tell us about your circumstances and what you are looking for. We can assist you from there!
Coming soon: MindMap - MHS’s Mobile App for service navigation! Click here for more information.
Workshops & Education
Education is the key to reducing stigma and increasing awareness in our community! The MHS offers workshops to businesses, schools, and the public. Currently, our workshops are taking place online. Our Workshops cover topics including wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic, self care, mental health in the workplace, and how to support loved ones with mental illnesses. In addition to our own workshops, we have also partnered with NEED2 to offer subsidized suicide prevention training.
Community Outreach
Community is one of our six core values. We love to connect with the community members and hear their stories. We sell artwork, offer free service navigation assistance, and hold safe spaces for all. We have hosted conversations cafes and presented at public events including International Overdose Awareness Day, World Mental Health Day, farmers markets, and many others! Please stay tuned for information on future events.
Social Media Campaigns
The MHS is active on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We use these platforms to share wellness tips, distribute information, and tell true stories about mental health in the community. Every month, we publish a mental health newsletter. Subscribe to our newsletter here ->
As a grassroots non-profit, we are able to run our programs thanks to our amazing volunteers and donations from the community. Click below if you’re able to help fund our initiatives!
Every dollar makes a huge difference. Thank you :)
