World Health Day is a health awareness day celebrated annually on April 7th, which also marks the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO). Every year, the WHO sets a specific theme to raise awareness for, usually surrounding various health concerns, accessibility to healthcare, health equity, and more.
The theme for this year’s World Health Day is “My Health, My Right” as climate change, pollution, conflicts, diseases, and natural disasters all put everybody’s human right to health at increasing risk worldwide. In 2021, essential health services were still not fully accessible to at least 4.5 billion people, more than half of the world’s 8 billion.
